DIYAbility is a new program focused on individuals with disabilities, community members, and professionals interested in becoming educated in the field of assistive technology.  The focus of this workshop is to ignite curiosity and discover the fun of DIY (Do It Yourself).
During the DIYability Assistive Technology Workshop we will explore basic assistive technology and its role in computer access.  The workshop will explore various disabilities and how they can affect a user's access to a computer.  Participants will explore possible solutions to facilitate independence for individuals.  These solutions will include simple changes that can be made to the operating system of a computer, alternative access methods, and a DIY mouse hack.  Every participant will leave with a switch enabled-hacked mouse and be provided with resources for obtainment of some of the technologies discussed.
